Having spent nearly two weeks sick, the kind of sick where changing scenery means laying on the couch instead of your bed (and wondering how people survived illness before Netflicks). Not being without fever or leaving the house for some 9 days (have you ever tried watching an intense show feverish?!), means I kind of missed the transition of summer to fall. It is fall now, without a doubt. The calendar says so of course, but so does the weather and the colours on the trees. Even with the gorgeous midday sun, the mornings and evenings are also decidedly cooler. So when I finally found myself well enough to be in the kitchen again, I felt I wanted to bake something autumn inspired for my daughter’s classes. Continue reading Autumn Sugar Cookies
Summertime generally brings parties (often of the kid variety in our household) and fun treats or BBQ’s. So these three adorable sugar cookies have gotten plenty of use around here and are perfect for a fun party or BBQ this summer! Continue reading Summertime Sugar Cookies

Sometimes decorated sugar cookies can be a daunting affair. Sometimes we want something really cute and Pinterest lures us into believing we can have it! But really it leaves us in puddle of icing and tears. And yet sometimes we still want something really cute! So that’s why I want to share a truly easy and simple cookie that my kids and I whip up from time to time – Ice cream cone sugar cookies! Continue reading Easy Ice Cream Cone Sugar Cookies
Along with all the hype and fervour that comes with crazy hair day in this house. We generally make some sort of sweet treat for the class. We have a hard time celebrating any momentous occasion or day with out cake or cookies of some sort (and to our eldest daughter, crazy hair day is very momentous). It’s not that we as a family always eat that many cakes or cookies in actuality (people are always shocked to hear my kids say no to cake or treats or that husband rarely eats them and that generally I give them away), but we love to recognize small or fun occasions and share a treat with the class where and when we can. So cue the crazy hair day cookies! Continue reading Crazy Hair Day Cookies

Cap and Gown Graduation Lollipops
Every year I like to challenge myself to come up with some new and cute, but fun and edible way for my daughter and her classmates to celebrate year end. Our final days of grade 2 turned into a bumpy ending and most non necessities had to go. But because of our fight to get thru the year, despite unforeseen challenges, I also felt all the more compelled to celebrate. Continue reading Graduation Cap and Gown Lollipops
This is a fairly simple cookie, that goes over well on earth day, or anytime you feel the need for ‘I heart the earth’ cookies. I suppose there is never a wrong time to show the earth some love! These cookies are simple enough to make, that one should walk away with same level of sanity they began with (sadly, I can not say that for every recipe or project I embark on). But these cute cookies are easy and they tend to make an annual appearance for Earth Day around here.

I began taking french classes when my oldest entered kindergarten in french immersion. Partially because I have always wanted to learn and mostly because it seemed like a poor idea to one day have a child (even a teenager – gulp-) that spoke a language I didn’t! Continue reading Eiffel Tower Cookies
I needed an easy-peasy treat for Peyton’s class to wish them all a nice winter break before we flew the coop early for Florida. I have seen variations of these snowman heads floating around the internet for some time, so on the way home from our errands we pulled into the grocery store and grabbed a couple packs of mini powdered donuts. They were destined to become snowmen for the class. Continue reading Little Snowman Heads
Kids Marshmallow Tea Cup Treats
As summer wraps up, we try to celebrate and get every last drop of warmth from the last few weeks of the season. This year we had an end of summer garden tea party at my mother-in-laws. Our kids plus their cousins were very happy to dress up and have tea in the garden. But of course the ideas started flying as soon as the words came out of my mouth about what epic treats each of my girls could make to contribute to such an occasion. Before I was covered in nothing but a tornado of pink frosting, sprinkles and tears (at the five layer cake someone was proposing), I presented the idea of marshmallow tea cups.
