Autumn Acorn Cookies

Sometimes inspiration gets a little nudge. Like with these acorn sugar cookies. It so happens that #NationalCookieDay and #NationalPumpkinSpiceDay coincide this year. It’s a rather happy coincidence. And around here it resulted in a delightful cookie that celebrates fall. Which is a great way to welcome autumn with a sweet treat!

Sugar Cookie House

So I had this idea. Make a Sugar Cookie House. And it turned out fairly darn well I must admit. You see our kids love decorating and building gingerbread houses. Generally this is an activity the cousins like to get together and do which makes it even more fun. Continue reading Sugar Cookie House

Snowflake Cookies

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is Blue-and-White-Snowflake-sugar-cookies.jpg

With all things winter being on people’s minds and in their outerwear choices. It took my mind to snow and snowflakes, which then naturally lead to snowflake treats, like these snowflake cookies (because that’s how my brain works). Continue reading Snowflake Cookies

Autumn Sugar Cookies

Having spent nearly two weeks sick, the kind of sick where changing scenery means laying on the couch instead of your bed (and wondering how people survived illness before Netflicks). Not being without fever or leaving the house for some 9 days (have you ever tried watching an intense show feverish?!), means I kind of missed the transition of summer to fall. It is fall now, without a doubt. The calendar says so of course, but so does the weather and the colours on the trees. Even with the gorgeous midday sun, the mornings and evenings are also decidedly cooler. So when I finally found myself well enough to be in the kitchen again, I felt I wanted to bake something autumn inspired for my daughter’s classes. These leaf shaped autumn sugar cookies seemed the perfect thing. Continue reading Autumn Sugar Cookies

London Fog (earl grey) Cookies

A London Fog (earl grey tea latte) is a fairly common occurrence here in Vancouver. It’s a winning combination of earl grey tea, vanilla and steamed milk. But this fabulous flavour combination doesn’t just make for a comforting cool weather drink, it can be enjoyed as London Fog Cookies too!

Crazy Hair Day Cookies

Along with all the hype and fervour that comes with crazy hair day in this house. We generally make some sort of sweet treat for the class. We have a hard time celebrating any momentous occasion or day with out cake or cookies of some sort (and to our eldest daughter, crazy hair day is very momentous). It’s not that we as a family always eat that many cakes or cookies in actuality (people are always shocked to hear my kids say no to cake or treats or that husband rarely eats them and that generally I give them away), but we love to recognize small or fun occasions and share a treat with the class where and when we can. So cue the crazy hair day cookies! Continue reading Crazy Hair Day Cookies
