Destination Cultus!

cultus lake adventure park

We happily found ourselves back at the Cultus Lake Waterpark and Adventure Park. This is a wonderful place for families and summer fun. The two parks that make up Destination Cultus are run by a family themselves and it shows in all the family friendly details. It was interesting to learn from the owner himself, that initially they purchased the water park (in its original humble beginnings) and expanded and added to what it is today – home to over 25 amazing waterslide and attractions – the largest in the Provence. Then they embarked on turning the mini golf across the street into the Cultus Lake Adventure Fun Park that it is today. Meaning that yes, you can do the waterslides and a family friendly theme park for all ages, in the same epic day!!

Which is exactly what we did, thanks to a bloggers invitation from VancouverMom. It was a great day for both the waterslides and the amusement park and for making new friends. I only wish I gotten a final picture of both kids asleep (even the 10 year old) on the car ride home (a true testament to a great day)!

Something For Everyone

What I love about the waterpark is that there is something for every age and 5 hot-tubs (yes, 5). So if you are an avid thrill seeker this is the right place for you, but if you are a timid toddler, this is still the right place for you, with impressive wading pools and splash pads to explore. Even if you are more of the ‘I want to sit in a hot-tub adjacent to a splash pad where I can watch the kids’ individual, then it’s got that too. There is even something for the ‘I want to float in a lazy river on an inner tube’ and do little else crew. Yup you can definitely do all of that here and more!

Our personal favourites are the tube rides and we certainly got our fill. In fact we even recruited others to join us and made some new friends! We had a total blast racing and laughing. Then devouring a well earned lunch, so we could get even more energy to continue having all the fun and make our way across the street to the Adventure Park.

That’s right, immediately across the street from the waterpark is a themed amusement park. The family owned and operated Cultus Lake Waterpark purchased the mini golf across the street and turned into the adorably themed amusement park it is today. Doesn’t get much better than that.

This is a great park for the younger crowd, or if like us you have a significant age gap between siblings. There are more than your average amount of kids rides and the well thought out theme makes just being in the park enjoyable and part of the fun. But rides like the new Cloud Buster and the Round-Up 360 mean there is something for the daring as well. And when your ten year works up the courage to conquer these big rides and comes out victorious, that face is priceless!

Admission is Free

Another great thing is that admission and entrance to the park are free. Leaving you with two options for rides – the purchase of tokens or an unlimited ride wristband. So you could hit a ride or two or get a wrist band and stay for hours! Which is what we did. It doesn’t hurt that admission to the waterpark gets you a discount that results in an unlimited ride wristband for only $15.

Mini Golf

We tried out our hand at the Giggle Ridge Adventure Mini Golf, which is a full 18 holes that wind in and out and under other attractions in a delightfully whimsical way. It is themed enough to be fun for the younger crowd, but challenging enough to appeal to the older crowd as well. And yes, you could just come for the mini golf ($10 a person, without a wristband), but good luck not getting enticed by a ride or two, or at the very least a waffle cone on the boardwalk, on your way out!

How Far Is It Really?!

Not that far! It only seems like a trek until you experience the world class fun you can have at these two great parks. These are some of the best waterslides we have ever experienced and we have driven much, much further to reach waterslides before. If you don’t believe me, consider the fact that we have been out to Destination Cultus (an hour and fifteen minutes from North Van) a total of 3 times this summer already!

So Destination Cultus is a definite for any summer bucket list!!!
