Easy, peasy lemonade! Make a quick, refreshing glass of lemonade without the need of a simple syrup. My youngest loves lemonade. Especially on a hot day. But I rarely have simple syrup on hand. So rather than create a grainy glass of lemonade or a whole jug, and a sore hand from squeezing lemons. I have found an easy way to just whip up a single serving in glass.
Warm weather means cool down drinks. This easy iced tea is especially refreshing! It’s great for an after school pick me up, picnic or just because. And with a fancy drink enthusiast for a daughter, I have been making her this iced tea for all of the above or no reason at all.
I am usually a purest when it comes to summer fruit pies, jams and such. One fruit and one fruit only! But in an effort to try new things and never miss out on something delicious. I tried mixing the remaining blackberries, blueberries and peaches I had leftover after a weekend of canning. And it was so good! So good in fact, I might just have been (somewhat) converted into a multiple fruit kind of gal, because I have been thinking about this pie ever since I made it!
I grew up with baking powder biscuits as a staple, as did a lot of families. They are rather perfect for any time of day. Baking powder biscuits are equally good slathered in butter and jam, with tea or coffee, as they are accompanying a large pot of soup on a cold night.
Our cardboard play house! The kids are never too far from making a plea to keep a ‘perfect’ box or coveted found object forever. But when they turned the large box that a patio chair came into the most adorable play house we have gladly allowed it a prominent spot in our living space (especially when we have been spending more time indoors together). It didn’t hurt that they intentionally went with a black and white colour scheme to ‘blend in’ with our surrounding style.
A pull apart gingerbread man is great for little hands. This handsome dude is much less fussy than tiny details and especially ideal for younger kids who need a parent’s assistance. But he’s equally great for families looking for a cool weather, single household yummy project! So much quicker and simpler to make one big ‘cookie’ than many smaller ones.
I discovered (but certainly didn’t come up with the idea myself) that you can make delicious peach syrup from the leftover peach scraps, mainly the skins and pits.
Since the youngest could sit I have been taking an annual ‘sisters’ photo of my daughters each summer overlooking a beach in this beautiful cove near where we live.
